Some good economic news: Wages in Washington went up last year. The average annual wage in this state was $82,500 last year, up 7.4% from 2020, according to the Employment Security Department.
Of course, some workers didn’t come close to earning that amount. The average annual income for workers in the hospitality and leisure sector was about $30,000, the state said. Those in educational services averaged about $46,000.
Workers in King County had the biggest bump in their paychecks last year. The average annual wage in 2021 was $115,000. Of course, that number is skewed by all the high-tech workers in the county.
