(SEATTLE) A fourth lawsuit has awarded millions to the families of students who were exposed to chemicals at a Monroe school.

In the latest lawsuit, 3 parents and 7 students say they suffered serious neurological injuries after beings exposed to PCBs at the Sky Valley Education Center, an alternative school in Snohomish County.

In the lawsuit against Bayer, which owns Monsanto, the plaintiffs claim the school district knew as early as 2014 that PCBs were found on campus, and despite cleanup efforts, the chemicals were still being found in 2019.

A King County jury has awarded 275-MILLION dollars to this latest group, bringing the total awarded to parents and students so far to 543 MILLION.

Bayer Pharmaceuticals said in a statement that it disagrees with the verdict and plans to appeal, as it has with previous verdicts.

There are 16 more lawsuits awaiting trial.
