Finding a good primary care doctor can be a challenge. Do you ask friends and neighbors for a recommendation? Do you base your decision on Yelp ratings?
Here’s a better way. Checkbook.org, the non-profit that rates services in the greater Seattle area, has ratings for more than 500 doctors around the sound. These ratings are based on surveys of both local physicians and patients.
Kevin Brasler, Checkbook’s Executive Editor, says finding out what other patients say about their doctor can be helpful.
“Does the doctor listen carefully? Does the doctor explain things thoroughly? Do they allow you to be an active participant in decision making and coordinate well with specialists? These are the things that patients know about, and they’re at the heart of good medical care. And patients can judge their own doctors pretty well on those fronts,” Brasler.
Checkbook is an independent, non-profit, subscriber-based consumer rating and education service. As a courtesy to Northwest Newsradio listeners, you can use this link (until Nov.20, 2022) to get ratings for more than 500 doctors in the Puget Sound area.
