(SEATTLE) A member of country music royalty just won the charity lottery, thanks to the founder of Amazon.
Over the weekend, Jeff Bezos presented his Courage and Civility Award to someone you’ve definitely heard of before.
“She gives with her heart,” Bezos said. ‘What shes done for kids, literacy, and so many other things, is just incredible.”
He’s referring to Dolly Parton, a woman who doesn’t need his money for herself. And that’s the point: The winner of this award takes the cash that comes with it, and then designates the charities that will receive it.
100-Million dollars.
“I’ve always said, I try to put my money where my heart is, and I think you do the same thing,” Parton said in accepting the award and the money. “I will do my best to do good things with this money. Thank you Jeff.”
