Benedict Cumberbatch’s London home was attacked and property was damaged by a former chef, Jack Bissell, wielding a fish knife while the actor, his wife Sophie Hunter and their three children were home at the time. A British court heard the case on May 10th involving Bissell, who was charged with kicking through the front garden gate of Cumberbatch’s home, pulling up a plant and throwing it at a garden wall, then spitting at the intercom and tearing it loose with a fish knife.

BBC News reported that Bissell pleaded guilty to criminal damage at the home located at Wood Green Crown Court on May 10th. The 35-year-old Bissell was fined £250, and given a three-year restraining order preventing him from going near Cumberbatch’s family and their residential area. It is not clear why Bissell targeted Cumberbatch and he offered no defense in court. Bissell has a previous conviction for theft, and in 2015 he was photographed being arrested during protests against military intervention in Syria in central London.
