The 24-year-old woman involved in a horrifying high-speed car crash last Sunday in West Seattle is improving.

“The suspect vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed”

90 miles an hour witnesses say along Alki Avenue. Seattle Police still aren’t saying much “The impact was so severe it caused the victims to be pushed into the water” according to officer Shawn Weismiller.

The West Seattle Blog reports, bystanders pulled Madison Kelly from Elliot Bay with life threatening injuries.  But her condition has since been upgraded to serious.

“I kept a tally of up to 40 cars speeding at times” people living near Alki Beach have been complaining for years and Sheila Meade told the city council this week the speed humps added to Alki Avenue last year aren’t helping “Before and after the speed bumps the street allows for racing.”

Alki Avenue, Harbor & Marginal Way are now Restricted Racing Zones; considered among the 10-most dangerous in Seattle.

The 23-year-old man at the center of this crash was also taken to the hospital.  His condition is unknown, but the Seattle Prosecuting Attorney’s office says no charges have been no charges have been filed yet because the investigation is still unfolding.

In the meantime, the city council continues its push to add traffic cameras to those ten restricted racing zones, but government moves slowly.
