(WASHINGTON, DC) — Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA), has become one of highest-ranking Democrats to call on President Biden to end his campaign for re-election.
“The President’s performance in the debate was alarming to watch and the American people have made it clear they no longer see him as a credible candidate to serve four more years as President,” Rep. Smith said in a statement. “Since the debate the President has not seriously addressed these concerns.”
Smith was reportedly on a conference call Sunday with party leaders and the President. Also said to have been on that call was fellow Washington Congressman Rick Larsen, who says he is still on ‘Team Biden.’
So far, the President has rejected calls for him to step aside.
