ORIGINAL AIR DATE:  April 30th, 2024

DESCRIPTION:  Northwest Newsradio sports reporter Bill Swartz looks at the unprecedented growth of girls flag football across the country, and how it could be the next official high school sport in the state of Washington.

SCRIPT:

That’s Washington Interscholastic Activities Association executive director Mick Hoffman.  Beginning this week, representative assembly members will consider adding girls flag football as a WIAA sanctioned sport.

Hoffman tells me high school athletic administrators and coaches are bit concerned they don’t raid existing sports for the benefit of a new one

WIAA vote results won’t be known for a few weeks

If it is a thumbs up, Washington becomes the 12th state in the country to sanction girls high school flag football.

I’m Bill Swartz, Northwest
