IVF in doubt after AL Supreme Court issues ruling based on Bible

THIS EPISODE OF THE NORTHWEST POLITICAST: In a stunning decision, the Alabama Supreme Court rules that frozen embryos are children. This has put in vitro fertilization in the state in jeopardy, as doctors and patients are worried they could now be charged with murder for discarding the unused material leftover after a procedure.

Even more puzzling is the fact that the justices used the Bible instead of the law or the Constitution to justify the ruling.

Condemnation has been swift, with even pro-life Republicans arguing the ruling should be overturned.
