Seattle Police move to end consent decree with Justice Dept.

After more than a decade, Seattle Police say it is time to end the federal consent decree that governs the department’s policies. Saying they have made significant strides in ending biased policing and unnecessary use of force, both Chief Adrian Diaz and Assistant US Attorney General Kristen Clarke are petitioning the Court to reduce the level of federal oversight. Ultimately, it will be up to Judge James Robart.
