THIS EPISODE OF THE NORTHWEST POLITICAST: He lost in 2020. He lost in 2022. And while Loren Culp’s name may not be on the ballot this year, he still holds an outsized level of influence within the state GOP.

Culp commands much of the far-right; a wing of the party that has become a nuisance to more moderate Republicans trying to get elected in a very blue state.

Now, his recent Twitter tantrum over a perceived lack of ideological purity among some candidates has others shaking their heads.

Not a good message in an election year that should, on paper, give Republicans a good chance of winning the governorship.

We’ll hear from a party insider.

PLUS: Details of Seattle’s new transportation levy proposal; how much homeowners will be expected to pay and what they’ll get for it.

AND: Why Washington’s potato crop is at the center of controversy with the USDA.

Guests include Seattle Department of Transportation Director Greg Spotts, data scientist Lenny Bronner, and KVI’s Ari Hoffman.

The Northwest Politicast with Jeff Pohjola: From this Washington to that one, Jeff Pohjola will explore the issues and politics of the week. Frequent guests and top analysts break down the news to get to the heart of what matters most.
