Local grocery workers getting short-changed on checks

(SEATTLE) We’re just a week away from one of the biggest shopping days of the year, but some local grocery workers say they’re not getting their full paychecks.

The cash registers are beginning to hum at a fever pitch, but the union representing local QFC and Fred Meyer workers says you’d never know it by looking at their paychecks.

Several employees of the stores say their checks have been SHORT for WEEKS.

A spokesperson for Kroger, the parent company of the two stores, says they’re aware of the problem, and they’re addressing known issues as quickly as possible.

Local 555 President Dan Clay, in a written statement, accuses Kroger of implementing new accounting software “they didn’t know how to use.”

He says several union members are experiencing hardship like not being able to pay rent, and some are considering taking class- action against the company.
