Patient information compromised at local hospitals

(SEATTLE) The October ransomware attack that crippled Virginia Mason Franciscan Health websites is now believed to more ongoing consequences.

You may remember about the attack that shut-down several hospital websites several weeks ago.

Yesterday, Virginia Mason parent company CommonSpirit made the revelation that personal patient information was compromised during the October event.

The company…which operates 10 local hospitals…says it has no evidence any of the information has been misused, and that they’re in the process of contacting everyone who might be affected.

In yesterday’s statement, the healthcare company also wrote “We apologize for any concern this may cause. CommonSpirit Health and its affiliated entities … take the protection and proper use of personal information very seriously.”
