(OLYMPIA) The state’s low-cost insurance marketplace “Washington HealthplanFinder” is advertising coverage that will cost you NOTHING next year.
But you have to act now to capitalize on the offer.
The temptation for low or middle income Washington residents currently insured through the state is to just let it roll over and auto renew.
Ana Howe with Sea Mar Community Health Center tells the Everett Herald DON’T. There are a bunch of new state tax credits available next year for those who earn up to 250% of federal poverty level.
That boils down to this headline: About 90% of those currently covered through Washington HealthplanFinder can find the same coverage for next year at a lower cost. There’s even a Cascade health Care Savings plan that doesn’t cost anything.
The trick is you can’t just let your current plan auto renew. You need to shop now, find a cheaper plan, and re-enroll before Thursday’s December 15th deadline for coverage beginning January 1st.
