Washington county says more kids are in hospital now than during the height of the pandemic

(BELLINGHAM) The Whatcom County Health Department says there’s so much flu, RSV, and COVID going around that kids are being admitted to its hospitals at a rate four times greater than admissions over the past five years.

“We may soon reach a point where there might not be enough children’s hospital beds for those who need care,” Doctor Greg Thompson said in a video released by the health department.

Thompson is urging parents to take all precautions, citing these are airborne illnesses.

“We’re asking you to do everything you can, so together ,we can reduce stress and strain on our hospitals, and keep our children healthy,” Thompson adds.

He says social distancing and mask use will go a long way right now in cutting the number of people needing hospital care.
