Manda Factor
Northwest Newsradio Anchor
Manda Factor has been telling stories on the radio for more than 30 years. 20 of them here!
She loves being up early and learning about what’s happening in the world. Being able to share that with listeners is what keeps her waking up at 3 a.m.
Manda attended both UW and WSU, so she roots for both teams!
She finds happiness in family, including a young daughter who keeps her on her toes. She is a dog, music, chocolate and wine lover (not necessarily in that order!) She and her husband love to travel together.
In her free time at home, Manda loves to cook and play piano. She is a big fan of Seattle sports teams!
Brian Calvert
Northwest Newsradio Anchor
Brian is what we call a true “morning person,” which is why he feels right at home helping you get your day started here on Northwest Newsradio.
He’s one of the original members of our news team, here since day one when we began the all- news format. And over the past couple of decades, Brian has served the station in a variety of roles.
“I think this position, by far, is my favorite to date,” he says about co-hosting the morning news. “Not only do I get to work alongside Manda and the rest of our team helping people start their day informed, but after the show, I still have the opportunity to tell my stories.”
Before ascending to the anchor chair, Brian spent a large portion of his career as a regional and national Edward R. Murrow Award-winning reporter. And his feature stories are a favorite of Northwest Newsradio listeners.
Brian has been a part of radio and television in the Pacific Northwest for well over three decades. His career began in the late 1980s in southern Oregon where he first learned radio broadcasting at KAJO under the tutelage of the Wilson family. From there, he went on to anchor the morning news for KXL in Portland in the 1990s (which is where he met and competed with Manda Factor). Just after the turn of the century, he migrated north to Seattle, and in the summer of 2002, Brian was lured from KIRO to help launch the all-news KOMO Newsradio (now Northwest Newsradio). He’s also worked on television, anchoring the news and weather for KOMO 4 and Northwest Cable News.
Brian and his family call West Seattle home, where he enjoys long walks along Alki Beach. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, road trips, and volunteering for some of his favorite local charities. He also owns a small production company that produces a regular, family friendly “good news” podcast called The Joy Unicorns Show, as well as his own tribute to classic games shows called Northwest Game Night.
